Extention of income/Star power

For this post I will be discussing how bands use things like muic video to make more money and to become stars. This is star power. Bands nowadays make their profit from different ways and means because music video channels are pretty out of fashion nowadays. There are some music video channels still available to look at but most people look at websites like Youtube to get their fix of music video so most record companies now that online formats is how they make their money now. Sometimes if you buy a CD from a record there would be a bonuc CD with the music video of that single on. Usually these CD's would cost more so this is how most bands would make their profit. Youtube however prohibits band from doing this. So what they might do is put up a music video to promote a song from their latest album, when people watch this video they are also hearing the song and they will also get a general idea of how the album would sound like so they go and get the album. Lady Gaga uses youtube alot because it helps people recognize her image as an artist. Before Lady Gaga however, was Madonna. Madonna didn't have anything like youtube to promote her videos and make herself famous but there was MTV around at that time and Madonna just used MTV to promote herself and her image, as well as interviews and press releases etc. Madonna is like Lady Gaga in many ways except she doesn't use youtube. Nowadays only pop stars use stuff like MTV to make themselves stars where as big rock bands use live appearences and critics to boos themselves up to stardom. The pop culture and alternative music culture are completely different. Within the pop culture however, people use music video's to their advantage to get people interested in them and when people are interested in them by viewing their music video's they will try and buy their albums.
