Most bands use different tools in the media to propel themselves to stardom. This is called star vehicle Music Videos are used most commonly to promote the artists image and when they want to change their image they use music video to do so. The audience is seen as the consumer of a product and the music video sells and promotes the artist. There are many different types of promotion needed for different genres. For example if you are a solo artist or if you are in a band. Music Video also gives artist the chance to come across as something in terms of image. The image of the artist can make people want to like the band or hate the band. You can use music video to promote yourselves to a select group of people who you think will buy into your whole image for example if Radiohead want to promote their music video to a select group of people they know that their audience will probably not be watching MTV or anything like that so they try to use unique and more different ways to show their music videos like putting them on youtube only so that if their fans want to see the music video they have to go onto youtube to search them and watch them. They also made this website called radiohead.tv which has all their music videos on there as well as ones that fans have made to make their music video's more recognisable to their fans. When they promote their music videos they try to do it in the most unique way possible because the bands image is that they are innovative and like to try out new things.
